After Cravan
2008|09 | Video

Arthur Cravan was last seen in Salina Cruz, Mexico, 1918. On all accounts he drowned in the Pacific on that same year. 'After Cravan' affirms what can only be the fictional ending to the life of the celebrated Dadaist, Arthur Cravan. It’s an imaginary finale because Cravan’s death is mysterious, never confirmed by a witness standing on the shore, not documented photographically, only mentioned fleetingly in texts.

In the video Giles can be seen at sea, floating off the South Welsh coast. As the film progresses the viewer is witness to an episode of self-sabotage as Giles armed with an axe proceeds to put holes in the hub of his boat – leading to eventual submersion.
